MAIL ORDER etc. PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING The increasing number of you who continue to order from every list that we produce, (many of you several times a year) and the kind comments that you make, encourage us to think that we are providing a reasonable service. Dot & our staff could not pack the plants any better to arrive with you in as near a perfect condition as possible. Please understand that in March & April due to pressure of work you may not receive your plants for several weeks. Let us know if there is a time when you do not want delivery, such as holidays etc.. We intend however to continue to send your plants by parcel post through the post office.. It is more expensive but you can not be finding it too excessive as last year we sent out more plants by mail than ever before, and the service was still good with no parcels lost and very few taking more than a week to arrive. To cover the increase in charges from last year our mail order prices need to be adjusted as follows:- Delivery rates to all parts of UK Available February to October inclusive. 1-6 plants £10-50 (minimum) 7 -14 plants £13-00 15 -20 plants £15-00 Because the weight of parcel has a much bigger effect on price through the Post Office parcel service, and the fact that Dot has to physically take the parcels there, we have had to reduce the maximum number of plants per parcel to 20. Larger orders requiring more than one box will be divided into the most cost effective combination. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO AMEND THESE CHARGES WITHOUT NOTICE, BUT ONLY IF POST OFFICE CHARGES REQUIRE IT Payment Payment please with order by a ‘not to exceed’ cheque made out to F M Smith . For those not familiar with the 'not to exceed' method, write across the top of the cheque an amount of money that will cover your order plus packing and delivery, e. g. if your order plus p & p comes to a total of £38-50, then write across the top of the cheque 'not to exceed thirty nine pounds'. Leave the space for the amount in figures and words blank. We will then complete this when your order is compiled. If you use this method we do not have to impose substitutes. Your cheque will not be banked until the order is due for dispatch . If you think that your order may have gone astray, please check your bank statement first. Loss damage or late delivery Please inform us as soon as possible. To comply with insurance terms, claims for loss or damage can only be accepted within three days of receipt. Export We welcome enquiries from our fellow enthusiasts overseas, but have currently to restrict mail order of plants to European Community countries. Details below.
European customers please consult terms and conditions below EXPORT OF ALPINES TO EUROPEAN COMMUNITY COUNTRIESExport to European Community countries is by small packet airmail. The maximum weight is 2 kilos per packet, which will consist of six plants in their pots. The cost of this above the cost of the plants, is £12 (TWELVE POUNDS STERLING) per packet. More of our regular customers are requesting that we send plants without pots to reduce the cost. We are quite happy to do this at the customers risk. Without pots and with some of the soil removed we can place 18 plants in one packet for the same cost of £12 (TWELVE POUNDS.STERLING) Please include a list of acceptable substitutes with any order as we do not issue credit notes. Otherwise we will use our discretion. Payment may be made by STERLING CHEQUE drawn on a U.K. BANK, or by INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDER in STERLING. Please make out cheques etc. to F. M. SMITH and not to Hythe Alpines. We will also accept Euros in cash (not cheques) at the current exchange rate, but these should be sent via registered mail and are at the customers risk. We welcome visitors from other countries but please ring before arriving to ensure that we are here. We are only open to the general public on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, March to May in 2008 when the nursery closes completely. We will also open every weekend in April, and May Other open weekends and Alpine Shows that we will be attending are listed in Opening Times Back to Plants Index |
