CLEMATIS CRISPA

An extremely delicate climbing species whose 4 ft height has taken 5 years to achieve. Sparse open foliage enables it to be grown over or through any small shrub. Flowers about 2 ins. long by maximum one inch wide are bell shaped slightly pinched in the middle then widely flared and reflexed, the edges being crimped. Colour is variable from palest blue to almost purple, flowering from June to September followed by large fleshy seeds in feathery heads.

CLEMATIS FUSCA 'DWARF FORM

The ‘fusca’ family is very variable with several sub species and forms. This dwarf form was unknown to us before we grew it from seed. Surprisingly it flowered in its second year at only 3 ft tall. CLEMATIS   ‘HENDERSONII’

CLEMATIS 'HYTHE EGRET'

NEW

Having seen Clematis cartmanii 'Joe' develop from an exhibition plant into a good garden feature, I tried to retain the showiness of 'Joe' in a smaller form for pot work. Using him as the pollen parent & C. marmoraria as the seed parent, a whole range of forms were produced. This is one of four that were worth propagating and naming, from an original eighteen. 'Egret' makes a congested shrubby plant about twice the size of C. marmoraria, but retains the vigour and form of flower for which 'Joe' has become so admired. 4 in.

CLEMATIS INTEGRIFOLIA 'HANAJIMA'

This recent miniature introduction from Japan flowers extremely well on one of our sunny scree beds. It is so stunning that we always sell out as soon as it comes into flower.  From June to early September masses of clear pink flowers with very twisted tepals are produced on 8 in. stems. Hardy but superb in a pan.

 6-50

CLEMATIS 'LUNAR LASS'

An excellent hybrid from the 'County Park' stable. Dark green gently trailing foliage to 10 inches that covers itself with good creamy/green flowers in late spring.  Ideal for a trough or  the edge of a raised bed.

CLEMATIS MARMORARIA

x PETRIEI

An excellent hybrid either for garden or exhibition. First seen at the Bristol Show in 1990 when exhibited by Robert Rolfe, (Photo AGS Bull. vol 59 p.46) it makes a tight mat covered in greenish white flowers with a solid central boss of stamens.

CLEMATIS ‘MOONBEAM’

Formerly incorrectly offered as ‘Cartmanii moonbeam. Similar to the better known ‘Joe’ but somewhat smaller in all its parts and a little later flowering. Still as hardy and  vigorous clambering to about 30 in.

CLEMATIS 'MOONMAN'

From the same cross as the better known 'Lunar Lass' but being the male form the flowers are larger and the whole plant superior. We have shown it with success on several occasions. Pan or sheltered trough flowering in May-June. 10 inches (trailing)

CLEMATIS ORIENTALIS

A superb and very floriferous form which originated as a seedling of 'Bill MacKensie'. Quite vigorous it will make 8 ft. and flowers from mid august into October followed by very attractive seed heads.

CLEMATIS RECTA 'PURPUREA'

An upright clump forming herbaceous species that will need some form of support as its superb beetroot red spring foliage will eventually grow to 4 ft. and be topped in mid summer with pure white flowers.

CLEMATIS TIBETANA

Grown from wild collected seed from a plant that had typical lantern shaped-opening to starry flowers which had a plummy exterior and cream inner. could climb to 8 ft.
